From father to son, a renewing tradition since 4 generations

At the beginning of the last century, the activity of the first generation of merchants of the BURDI family consisted in the withdrawal of almonds from the peasants with the exclusive help of horse-drawn carts, and in the “hand” shelling of the fruits for local resale.

In the 1940s Michele Burdi, belonging to the second generation, revolutionized the historical local tradition by inventing the first “shelling machine”. Later, helped by his sons, he installed a “primordial blanching line” of the almonds.

The third generation continued the work of innovation and development and thanks to the progress of its production process, supported important exports to countries such as Russia and the United States of America.

BURDI s.r.l. company is in the old Apulian town of Ceglie del Campo, now a district of Bari, in the centre of an area traditionally dedicated to the processing and trading of almonds.
The BURDI company has factories of 4,000 square meters of total coverage, including a thermo-regulated warehouse with a capacity of more than 500 tons of goods.

Present in the national and international market since four generations, the company is specialized in the transformation of almonds and apricot kernels into a wide range of semi-finished products for Italian and European confectionery industries, wholesalers, pastry shops and small laboratories.

Thanks to the use of sophisticated machinery of its own design and the careful work of specialized personnel, the company stands out for its remarkable production capacity: up to 20 tons of blanched almonds and/or apricot kernels per day.
